I love rainy days especially in spring. Everything is so green and the pollen is washed out of the air! Ah, to breath free the crisp, cool air!
And so it is the day after my show closed. A sad day. I loved working with everyone at Emory. And the show, even tho an odd war story, was a blast to perform! I’ll even miss the corset from hell.
But, we are gathering at my home for a Tea and Paddle next Sunday and that will be such fun. I must get to planning the food. I’ll post on that later when my brain cells wake up and the English Breakfast tea kicks in.
My friend from the NYC area sent me this funny story. Enjoy. (no offense meant to any northerners!)
Three Southerners and Three Yankees:
One morning, three Southerners and three Yankees were in a ticket counter lineat a train station. The three Northerners each bought a ticket and watched as the three Southerners bought just one ticket.
“How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?” asked one of the Yankees.
“Watch and learn,” answered one of the boys from the South.
All six boarded the t rain where the three Yankees sat down, but the three Southerners crammed into a toilet together and closed the door.
Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around to collect tickets.
He knocked on the toilet door and said, “Ticket, please.” The door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged with a ticket in hand. The conductor took it and moved on.
The Yankees saw this happen and agreed it was quite a clever idea. Indeed, so clever they decided to do the same thi ng on the return trip and save some money.
That afternoon when they got back to the station, they bought a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment the three Southerners didn’t buy even one ticket.
“How are you going to travel without a ticket?” asked one of the perplexed Yankees.
“Watch and learn,” answered the three Southern boys in unison.
When they boarded the train, the three Northerners crammed themselves into a toilet and the three Southerners crammed into another toilet just down the way.
Shortly after the train began to move, one of the Southerners left their toilet and walked over to the toilet in which the Yankees were hiding.
The Southerner knocked on the door and said, “Ticket, please.”
There’s just no way on God’s green earth to explain how the Yankees won the war.
Cheers!

Ah, one week of shows behind us. One more week and we close! Wow, it has flown by so quickly! I know my fellow actors with finals coming up are ready for it all to end, but I have had a blast!
I’ll share some pictures.
My dressing room clutter!

Close up of the amazing roses my DH sent me for opening night!

The single salmon colored rose is from a dozen given to me by my BF for opening night.
Here are the rest at home. Aren’t they beautiful?

My “oldest” BF came Sunday and brought these!

And a shot of darling Miss E who shares the dressing table with me! Her nightly routine of ringlet making!

Now we have two days off. I intend to eat, sleep and knit. DD and I are reading Don Quixote so that will be delightful while knitting.
I also will plan a tea for the cast of Oh What a Lovely War! Yum!
That’s today. Now to finish my tea a work on my lace shawl!
Cheers!

What a wonderful morning! The show opened last night and was well received. Man, what a fun evening!
The reception had lots of snackage and was gone quickly once the actors arrived!
And this morning my DS came to the house and cooked a great breakfast. I came downstairs to a table of food and fresh pressed coffee! Does life get any better than this? Ah, to be a Diva!
And now I sit the glider on the deck listening to the finches sing. The blue birds have babies hatched in their house. Soon they will be at the feeders looking like ping-pong balls in feathers! DD and DS are down at the river working on the dam. Yes, life is good.
All is well in my world. I send that energy out to you as well!
Cheers!

Tonight is the opening of Oh What A Lovely War! Wow, time flies. I cannot imagine we are at this point and by the end of next week the show will be done. How fantastic it has been to work with these amazing kids from Emory Univ. Not to mention the wonderful director and musical director. I now feel like a mother hen with more chicks to adore! And these kids are looking at finals right after the show comes down. I can’t imagine how they do it all. And yet these are Emory students… very bright, very dedicated to learning (I’m sure some are rolling their eyes at that), and great people. I love them all!
I do plan on having them out to the house. We’ll have tea and goodies and relax. Perhaps take a canoe on the river. I do wish DD could be home for the event. Oh well, she has finals as well.
So today I rush around to put together opening night gifts and visit with my BF and then off to the theater!
Cheers!

Good grief! Time has flown by so quickly! Since last August and my last post, I left my job, spent 5 days at Thanksgiving in the hospital, spent Christmas in Boston with family for the first time, went back into the hospital in January and am now getting ready to perform in a show at Emory University. I’m exhausted just looking at this paragraph.
The show I am in is called Oh What A Lovely War. You will have to click this link to see the promo card. I am unable to engage brain cells to figure out how to put the PDF picture in this spot.
I have also been very industrious in knitting.
Lace socks finished during rehearsals.

Mystery shawl on floor being blocked. You really can’t see the beads, but it really adds to the design!

The lace scarf I made for my friend for her birthday, on the antique lace stretcher.

Enough of knitting. (As if…)
Since I am a huge tea fanatic, I am loving the little 2 cup brown betty’s my DD gave me for my birthday.

Don’t they look like Mother and her little ones?
Now I can offer a selection of tea bags to someone. I much prefer loose tea, but sometimes an individual pot is lovely. I am in the process of making cosies and shawls for each of the little ones.
Well, it’s good to be back to the blogosphere!
Cheers!
